Race flowHow a flyball race works
A standard flyball lane has the start line at one end, four hurdles down the course and the flyball box at the far end. The dog runs out, triggers the box, catches the tennis ball and returns over the same hurdles.
Faults are usually simple to understand from the side of the ring: a dropped ball, a missed jump, an early pass or a dog crossing in the wrong place can all mean the dog has to run again.
Jump height is often based on the smallest dog in the team where the governing body's rules use height dogs. That is why smaller, fast dogs can be valuable team members, not just big power dogs.
